Quest for Good Sound at Blog Talk Radio

Photobucket

Three years ago my intuitive reader friend, Adrienne Austin and I, wracked our brains to find a way to stay on the crest of the Psychic Field. How could we get more exposure with the ability to upload an audio to our blogs and give examples of HOW we read? In 2007 Blog Talk Radio seemed the best and cheapest direction. Little did we know the struggle we would have with sound. Both of us are stage musicians. Our desire to have good sound was vital to us. We found that hosts can be as guarded in sharing the secrets of their sound system, as cooks are with their seasonings.

OUR FIRST SHOWS

How disappointed we were with those first Blog Talk Radio shows of 2007. Our voices were either tiny, too far away or sounded like we were sitting in a tin can. Note, like other Psychic Advisers on the move, we both use lap top computers. { I realize there's other sound quality tools and invite your Blog Talk Host suggestions for quality sound.} After the first year and a half of undesirable sound here is what we found out.

  • No matter how expensive your sound equipment, Blog Talk Radio equalizes all shows at the same sound setting. Finding the equipment to coordinate with Blog Talk sound settings was a huge struggle that took over a year and a half to solve.
  • SKYPE equipment was a dismal failure. None of it gave rich sound no matter how well it was rated.   Within time my shelves and cupboards became packed with tangled headset cords.  Even an expensive quality microphone did not work with Blog Talk
  •   The majority of professional Pod Casters are surprised that they do not control the sound at all at Blog Talk. Again, all sound is equalized the same.  However not all sound equipment will be heard the same at Blog Talk....it can be much worse.
  • Modern Lap Tops have small sound cards. I found using a USB PORT to connect sound equipment to WAS EXTREALY important for sound quality.
  • I tried several professional microphones that ran into my lap top. All of them were disappointing.
  • I bought an expensive "Freedom Wireless Head Set" advertised on Skype.......to my shock at Blog Talk my voice sounded tinny. It wasn't a bad microphone. It was incompatible with Blog Talk sound settings.
  • I found cell phones gave "small" sound. A Bluetooth made words muffle together and sound "closed in".
  • And thats when I found IT....THE GOLDEN BLOG TALK SOUND CHALICE.

ONE DAY I JUST LISTENED TO AS MANY SHOWS POSSIBLE AND ASKED WHAT THEY USED FOR SOUND.  HERE IS A HOLY GRAIL CHALICE TO SOUND AT B.T.R.

Panasonic KX-TGA740 telephone

When I bought it it was 132.00 {Here it is around 40.00}

  • Here is an example of how this phone makes me sound on Blog Talk
  • In great excitement I sent this same phone to Adrienne, but oddly it did not give her the same volume.
  • SHE USED A HEAD SET WITH IT....AND THE SPEAKER..... Just that simple of a change...also set the equalized settings off at Blog Talk.
  • Since then we have NOT used our head sets with the Panasonic, and the sound stays clear and with great volume.
PREMIUM OR NOT? THAT IS THE QUESTION

For around 45.00 a month at Blog Talk Radio, you can edit your show using AVS AUDIO EDIT. What that means is that after your show, you can correct mistakes, prerecord your shows, take out or add music to your show format. Here are the things that Blog Talk Premium does not do for you:

  • Using Premium does not get you more listeners, despite the advertised promises.
  • Blogging, Networking, Face book, My Space and Twitter get you listeners.
  • Using Premium does not give you better sound quality.
  • The very best thing about using Premium is for sound connoisseurs who enjoy editing their own shows.
  • You will notice that despite how good your sound equipment at Blog Talk is, the commercial before your show starts, will always be richer, clear and LOUDER.
  • The very best part about Blog Talk Radio is the rich experience of learning to radio host your own show.  The experience of this alone allows you to Find Your Best Voice.....as well as give you recorded archives you can connect to your website, net works and blogs.
